General Activities Therapist 2

Job Description

Conduct, organize, coordinate & administer recreational programs (e.g., physical education, arts & crafts).

Conduct medically approved specialty area programs (e.g., occupational, structured therapeutic, pre‑vocational, vocational, adaptive sports activities, interactive computer access, card games, adapted aquatics, music therapy, art therapy, movement therapy, animal‑assisted therapy (AAT)).

Run or organize special events, outings, performing arts, evening group programs or video viewing for specific therapeutic & goal‑reaching purposes.

Have considerable knowledge of activity therapy operations to plan, organize & conduct individual & group classes in activity therapy programs.

Plan, conduct, implement & monitor general recreational, personal development, structured therapeutic & entertainment activities (e.g., softball, basketball, volleyball, ping‑pong, pool, arts & crafts, weight‑lifting & exercises).

Participate in meetings, conferences & training sessions.

Qualifications

30 months experience with coaching, personal training or fitness instruction, or 30 months experience providing work direction to incarcerated persons and training/development.

Completion of an associate degree in recreation and at least 12 months experience in activity therapy or recreation.

Completion of an undergraduate core program in recreation and at least 6 months experience in activity therapy or recreation.

At least 6 months experience as a General Activities Therapist 1 (44211).

Equivalent of the minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
