Curriculum Leader Job Description: World Language
Be a positive role model, leader, and learner.
Must have sound curriculum knowledge, including the scope and sequence of all middle school grades. The Curriculum Leader should model an effective pedagogy, enthusiasm, innovation, and a willingness to accept challenges positively.
Be an effective communicator and collaborator with other teachers, school leaders, parents, and students.
Actively participate in monthly planning and professional learning with other curriculum leaders, building leadership, and instructional coach to build content knowledge and pedagogy, and share this learning with departments.
Facilitate department meetings during and after school around curriculum.
Collaborate with building leadership to develop faculty meetings.
Identify a Problem-of-Practice among the department and engage the department in a process to reflect and refine a lesson or unit of study. This must include organizing classroom visits.
Guide your department in a goal setting process, which includes vertical alignment and multi-year initiatives.
Analyze data and trends to identify strengths and deficits, and work with departments to develop target lesson plans, units of study, and Tier I interventions.
State assessment data.
Measure of Academic Progress (MAPS).
Formative assessments.
Work with building leadership to schedule standardized assessments.
Oversee, in collaboration with building leadership, the budget for respective departments. This may include allotting funds for student resources and materials and professional learning opportunities.
Assume other responsibilities as determined by the administration.
As a stipend position, work may need to be completed outside of the contractual hours.
