Description
Skilled mechanic who, under supervision, safely performs diagnostic, maintenance, installation, and repair of equipment and processes in the underground crush and convey system.

Assists with and performs maintenance repairs on crusher and belt systems, including overhauls, liner changes, roller replacements, pulley replacements, belt repairs and alignments, filtration systems, pumps, coolers, plumbing, electrical timers, air handling units, dust collection, apron feeders, scrapers and plows, magnet belts, chute systems, pneumatic and drive systems.

Performs mechanical and lubrication preventive maintenance such as changing filters in dust collection systems and air handlers, hydraulic filter changes, and checking screens, oil levels and pressures.

Assists with maintenance overhauls on crushers, gear reduction systems, and motor replacements.

Performs work area inspections and housekeeping.

Performs welding tasks:

Stick, MIG, Oxy-acetylene welding and three‑position welding on structural steel and basic fabrication.

Operates mobile equipment:

Forklifts, tractors, and overhead cranes.

Uses air‑powered tools, hydraulic‑powered tools, torque wrenches, cut‑off saws, band saws, drill press, hydraulic press, diesel‑powered welders, generators, and basic measuring tools.

Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year’s experience in crush and convey mechanical/maintenance OR a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.

Understanding of schematics, blueprints, and equipment operations and maintenance manuals.

Basic knowledge of micrometers, slide calipers, flow meters and dial indicators.

Basic computer skills.

Knowledge of rigging and hoisting equipment.

Completion of required academic and practical competencies and ability to demonstrate aptitude, including passing a written assessment where required.

Preferred

High School diploma or GED.

One to two (1‑2) years of experience in crush and/or convey maintenance.

Criteria/Conditions

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety‑related instructions in English.

Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and safety standards.

Capacity to work in a potentially stressful environment.

Requirement to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation.

Tasks may require standing, sitting, manual dexterity, climbing stairs and ladders, working on elevated platforms, confined spaces, and occasionally lifting moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).

Personal protective equipment is required in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing, or plant environment.

Compliance with mandatory pre‑employment and ongoing drug testing as required by state law.

What We Offer You
The estimated pay range for this role is $26.00 – $33.00 per hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, and other job‑related factors.

What We Require

Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.

Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.

Work may include non‑standard schedules, including shift work beyond day shift, in a 24/7, 365‑day operation.
