Admissions Systems Specialist - Enrollment Management

The Enrollment Management team at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks an Admissions Systems Specialist to support and enhance our Technolutions Slate CRM environment. This role is critical to the success of undergraduate admissions operations, focusing on system optimization, data integrity, and cross-functional collaboration.
The primary function of this position is to serve as a technical expert for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Technolutions Slate environment in support of undergraduate admissions and enrollment management operations. This role is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and enhancing Slate functionality, supporting data integrations, reporting, and data integrity, and providing user support, documentation, and process improvement to ensure effective and efficient admissions operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Recruitment and Admissions System Management and Maintenance
Serve as a key technical expert for the Urbana Undergraduate Slate CRM system, collaborating within a team of specialists
Design, build, and maintain Slate configurations including queries, rules, forms, portals, and communications
Collaborate with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Communications and the System Team to implement system enhancements
Stay up to date on new features and best practices as Slate evolves, and continuously implement relevant enhancements and processes where they add value
Create and maintain Slate reports and queries
Support annual application data archiving and enforce retention policies
Monitor system performance and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security
Recruitment and Admissions System Data Integration
Develop and maintain data integrations between Slate and other campus systems (e.g., Banner, the EDW, Azure, and local databases) in collaboration with internal and external partners
Load relevant data like test scores and application data to Slate through ad hoc and automated, well-documented and auditable processes
User Support and Maintenance
Provide user support and training for admissions staff and stakeholders
Create and maintain documentation, training materials, and best practices
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement within Slate
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Two (2) years of work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years)
Demonstrated experience with an admissions and/or enrollment management system (e.g., Slate) performing work with items such as queries, datasets, forms, workflows, portals
Demonstrated experience with SQL and/or data management
Demonstrated experience with system integrations and/or data imports/exports
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a Big Ten or large public university setting
Demonstrated experience with Slate configuration in an admissions and/or enrollment management environment
3+ years of direct experience working with Technolutions Slate in an admissions environment
Familiarity with student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft)
Demonstrated experience with reporting tools and data visualization
Demonstrated experience in project management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Skilled in attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
Continuous improvement mindset skills
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript for Slate customization
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after theclose of the search. The budgeted salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000annually. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications andexperience, while also considering internal equity. Sponsorship for workauthorization is not available for this position.
