**JOB TITLE:**Water Mechanic (Transmission) Technician III**JOB CLASS NUMBER:**TRD957**PAY GRADE:**G07**FLSA STATUS:**Non-Exempt**BUSINESS UNIT NAME:**Water Transmission**REPORTS TO:**Water Transmission Supervisor**SUPERVISORY WORK:**As Assigned**SUMMARY**Under the general supervision of the Water Transmission Supervisor, this position is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the water pumping stations and water storage facilities including overhead storage tanks within the City as well as altitude valves, pressure monitoring points and pressure reducing valve installations.

Directly oversees the department’s Maintenance Mechanics and Utility Workers and implements and insures use of safety programs.**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES*** Performs major overhaul maintenance work on any of the mechanical systems associated with pumping stations and related storage facilities, overhead storage facilities and altitude valves, pressure reducing/control installations and pressure points.* Trouble-shoots mechanical, electrical malfunctions.* Schedules and prioritizes workload for crew.* Performs an extensive preventative maintenance program for the above-mentioned grounds, buildings, and equipment.* Performs and executes asset management entries and the associated efforts to ensure assets are being maintained at the proper frequency.* Orchestrates road repairs in the transmission system* Operates skid loader, backhoe, front end loader and excavator for all projects and road repairs in the transmission system* Plans and implements highly technical mechanical duties throughout the system, primarily overhead storage, ground storage, pump stations, PRV’s and transmission main repairs* Generates requests for parts and equipment needed to carry out repairs and maintenance and other approved projects.* Performs water backflow inspections on equipment.* Manages maintenance logs.* Assists the Field Maintenance supervisor with the annual budget for the Water Transmission Department.* Assists other departments on special projects.* Assists the Field Maintenance supervisor with scheduling major repair projects.* Assists and inspects the work done by the mechanics and contractors.* Assists in interviewing for vacancies and or promotions and for pay for performance evaluations.* Assists in special projects and at times acts as project manager and/or inspector.* Prepares and processes purchase orders.* Oversees inventory and property management.* Oversees inventory and property management.* Oversees inventory and property management.* Approves purchases up to $1,000 without approval from supervisor.* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent, with a minimum of three years of experience in the water utility maintenance field.

One year of experience in a supervisory role is preferred. Degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred. Must have and maintain a Class “C” Water Distribution Operators License.

Must have and maintain a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License, with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement. Must have and maintain a Chemical Applicator’s License from the Texas Department of Agriculture and a welding Certification.

A BPAT License and CSI License issued by the TCEQ preferred.

Incumbent shall have a working telephone for after hours call back.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*** Ability to lead a crew of maintenance personnel in performing routine and more difficult projects under sometimes adverse conditions.* Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines and scanners* Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.* Ability to read and write English and communicate verbally and in writing.* Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.* Ability to safely operate and repair medium equipment and machinery, such as scissor lifts, forklifts, vehicles or commercial mowers.* Knowledge of safety equipment needed to perform job duties.* Ability to take measurements and do mathematical computation at high school level.* Ability and experience in the use of basic hand and power tools including lawn care equipment.* Ability to work in confined spaces and other areas or projects that require the use of respiratory safety equipment such as paper masks, half mask respirators, hoods, full face respirators, positive air supplied masks and self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).* Ability to drive/operate various types of equipment used in this industry to include driving properly with a trailer**.*** Ability to safely operate tractors, loaders, ditchers, backhoes and dump trucks.* Ability to safely operate basic hand tools, precision measurement tools, volt-ohm meters, meggers, welder and oxygen acetylene torch, air compressors and water pumps,* Ability to establish policies for using, acquiring, and/or maintaining heavy or complex machinery.* Ability to supervise employees using or repairing heavy or complex machinery.* Ability to operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools.* Shall complete maintenance training courses as outlined by the Maintenance Foreman.* undefined* **ADA PROFILE**
