
Radiology Tech Assistant

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the radiologic technologist, this position is responsible for assisting the technologists, residents, and radiology attendings in exam rooms, and with guided interventional procedures. This position also calls patients from the waiting room into the changing area as well as prepares/explains the procedure to the patient according to departmental and hospital procedure. The technical assistant performs a variety of patient care and clerical duties, while aiding patients, technologists, and radiologists. The technical assistant demonstrates excellent communication skills and effectively works with all staff.
Job Responsibilities
Managing the Patient Experience: greet patients promptly in a warm, friendly manner demonstrating appropriate interest or concern; smile, make eye contact; gather or verify patient demographics as needed.
Practices the BH operating principles of Trust, Respect, Integrity, Collaboration and Communication.
Maintains patient confidentiality consistent with hospital policy.
Knowledge of lifting mechanics and proper moving techniques; responsible for assisting in the transfer of patients on and off stretchers, beds, wheelchairs, and other necessary equipment.
Keeps patients informed of wait times, assists and accompanies patients where possible.
Performs terminal cleaning, and surface cleaning in accordance with the hospital’s infection control practices and policies.
Observes all health and safety requirements including body substance precautions.
Assists patients as needed to bathroom or with urinal or bedpan.
Participates in department and team projects as requested and communicates effectively with team and patients.
Skilled in handling transport, lifting, sliding, oxygen tanks, and IV poles as needed.
Skilled in the use of all necessary computer software such as Teletracking, Safety and Injury Reporting (SRS), Cerner, Radnet, Synapse, etc.
Assists with supplies and inventory; properly puts stock away and fills/empties laundry bins as needed.
Maintains yearly in-service validations; attends departmental staff meetings.
Responsible for clerical duties including computer use, scheduling, report and image retrieval, obtaining and delivering “wet reads”, communicating with patients and offices over the phone and in person.
Assists technologist, and radiology resident/attending while performing interventional biopsy exams.
Assists the technologist in preparing exam trays for biopsy procedures.
Responsible for assisting the technologist, resident, and radiology attending with pre, peri, and post patient care, as appropriate.
Performs all duties of a Radiology Technical Assistant I and II as necessary.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
GED or HiSET (required).
Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.
Certified Medical Assistant – OtherOtherOther.
Certified Nurse Aide – OtherOtherOther.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Advanced – OtherOtherOther.
Preferred Work Experience
Medical terminology and previous patient care experience.

Compensation
Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
