The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Rady Children’s Hospital is looking for a full‑time Advanced Practice Practitioner to join our growing team providing care for children with gastrointestinal diseases. The role involves caring for patients with various gastrointestinal disorders in an outpatient setting, collaborating with physicians, dieticians, social workers, therapists, and a psychologist, and contributing to the division’s educational curriculum.
Job Summary – Nurse Practitioner
The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education to children and families in clinical, school, and in‑home settings. The practitioner functions as a primary care provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher, care coordinator, and consultant, working under the supervision of a physician. Tasks include performing within the scope of licensure, adhering to hospital policies, and may involve on‑call duties as scheduled.
Minimum Qualifications – Nurse Practitioner
Master’s Degree in Nursing
Current California Nurse Practitioner license
Current CPR/BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
Furnishing number, State of California – Must obtain within 1 year of employment
DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications – Must obtain within 1 year of employment
Medicare Billing number (NPI‑National Provider Identifier) – Must obtain within 6 months of employment
Certification: Nurse Practitioner, National – Must obtain within 1 year of employment
Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services
Successfully complete the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division
Preferred Qualifications – Nurse Practitioner
Two years of experience in clinical nursing with emphasis in specialty area
Experience in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner
Formal in‑service education and/or lecturing skills
Bilingual skills desired

The practitioner functions as an advanced practice provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher, care coordinator, and consultant, performing within licensure scope and hospital policies. Duties may include on‑call responsibilities as scheduled.
Minimum Qualifications – Physician Assistant
Master’s Degree
Completion of a Physician Assistant Program
Current California Physician Assistant License
Current CPR/BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA

The expected hiring range for this position is $61.30 to $84.29 per hour.
