POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Analyst III, with a focus on accounting operations, is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and translating evolving business needs into actionable solutions. This role evaluates the impact of organizational and system changes, documents requirements, and facilitates effective communication among stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.

The position requires a balance of strategic insight and hands-on execution, with a strong understanding of both functional accounting processes and technical aspects of both Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) systems. The Business Analyst III plays a key role in documenting and updating end-to-end accounting workflows, driving process improvements, supporting system implementations and integrations, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology solutions.

Success in this role demands the ability to work independently while promoting cross-functional collaboration. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are essential to manage multiple priorities, contribute to best practice development, and support SaaS project implementations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Partner across all functions to document and maintain end-to-end accounting workflows, identifying opportunities to drive efficiency through automation and process improvement.
Partner with Project Managers and stakeholders to develop business cases and project charters that clearly define objectives, scope, and value.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, serving as a liaison between business teams and technical resources.
Maintain end-to-end traceability of business requirements, ensuring alignment across design, testing, training, and implementation phases.
Analyze and document current-state (as-is) processes and design future-state (to-be) workflows to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide guidance on accounting best practices and the optimal use of ERP and EPM systems to support business operations.
Facilitate meetings and workshops, applying strong brainstorming and consensus-building techniques while effectively engaging executive-level stakeholders.
Lead and support organizational change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of new processes and systems.
Manage multiple concurrent projects with varying priorities, deliverables, and stakeholder groups, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
Continuously enhance professional and technical knowledge through training, industry research, and participation in professional organizations.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting financial projects or in a similar role, preferably as part of a finance / business transformation project.
5+ years of accounting experience within the insurance industry, with strong knowledge of best practices and standards.
Hands-on experience implementing and/or working with ERP and EPM systems is required.
Proven experience supporting IT project execution, including requirements gathering, testing, and implementation.
Experience working with senior leaders and executive-level stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into practical solutions.
Experience leading or supporting organizational change management initiatives.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with Visio for process mapping preferred.
Professional certification such as IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is located in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and requires the physical demands of a normal office position with some light lifting. This is a full-time position with benefits.
