Job Summary:
The Network/Systems Administrator I plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and operation of the District's IT networking systems and equipment. This position encompasses monitoring of network performance, assisting with deployment of solutions and equipment, maintaining system documentation, and managing hardware and software components. Working in close collaboration with other members of IT, assists with testing and resolving technical issues while adhering to the District's standards, security protocols, and operational procedures. With a strong emphasis on customer service, the Network/Systems Administrator I maintains effective communication to ensure the reliability, availability, and optimal performance of the network environment.
Description of the ideal candidate:
While we are looking for the candidate with the best overall fit for our team, the ideal candidate will have experience and working knowledge in the following areas:
• Networking, wireless, and VoIP technologies
• General network infrastructure concepts
• Data center, MDF, and IDF environments
• Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, testing, and replacing network devices across field site
Experience Required:
Basic knowledge of network protocols, hardware, and concepts.
Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
One to two years experience preferred with network operations and maintenance of key IT infrastructure in one or more of the following areas: wired/wireless networks, switches, routers, routing protocols, VoIP, wireless access points, and/or firewall
Associates degree in information systems, computer science, systems administration, or related area. Other relevant experience in information or systems administration may be substituted for this requirement.
License or Certifications:
Criminal background check required for hire.
Preference for candidates with current certifications relevant to the Network/Systems Administrator role such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP, etc
