The Energy Auditor plays an essential role in the success of the SISD Energy Department. The primary responsibility is to support the success of the Energy Department’s energy conservation program and to reduce utility consumption.
The auditor's work hours may vary based on the objective at hand. Each auditor will spend time identifying saving opportunities, monitoring building conditions, and professionally interacting with personnel on energy conservation practices and operational strategies.
All employees of Spring ISD are expected to be service-oriented, relationship-centered and outcome-driven. They are required to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, champion the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
5 years’ experience in building automation, HVAC, and/or energy management
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Strong verbal and written communication
Experience in customer service
Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License
High School Graduate/GED from an accredited institution
Bachelor’s Degree
Certified Energy Manager
Previous auditor experience
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent customer service skills
Self-motivated, detail oriented, and ability to work independently
Proficient in current trends, practices and compliance in field
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Responsibilities
Perform building walk-through inspections and write summary reports
Provide timely reports and feedback on utility use to combat utility waste
Professionally communicate conservation guidelines and procedures to facility personnel
Effectively listen and record comfort issues professionally
Promptly respond to customer needs and inquiries
Assist the energy team in the evaluation of energy conservation projects
Maintain accurate utility records
Regularly track and analyze utility records
Review utility bills for accuracy and integrity
Travel to facilities to inspect the monitoring devices
Utilize district applications: Maintenance Direct, Energy Manager, and FS Direct
Partake in troubleshooting concerns regarding utilities (HVAC, Irrigation, Lighting, etc)
Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Perform other duties as assigned
Working/Special Conditions
Work requires sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and hand-eye-foot coordination to perform all essential tasks, including operating and using all tools, equipment and vehicles; lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds; walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time; climbing and working from ladders up to 25 feet high. Work is performed both inside and outside school district buildings and facilities, and often requires working unusual hours and may be designated for 24 hour on‑call. Employees are exposed to a wide range of climatic conditions, dust, flammable or toxic chemicals, and loud noises. Employees are also exposed to potential electrical shock and other physical hazards when working on electronic components and systems, operating tools and equipment, and working in high or cramped spaces. Work requires vision necessary to determine color differences. Employees are required to wear and use safety clothing and equipment and to comply with safety policies and procedures. Must be able to handle stressful situations as necessary.
