Position Summary
The Lift Truck Field Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving servicing and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team. Examples of the types of machinery that the candidate must be able to evaluate, and repair include internal combustion lift trucks, electric lift trucks, allied products, and diesel engines. Extensive on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning must be successfully completed to remain in the technician training program. The Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Technician will advance in Classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.

Essential Responsibilities & Expectations
Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures
Orders and return parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner
Performs the following tasks on basic components in work area including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; perform minor adjustments
Performs preventive maintenance service according to factory guidelines
Demonstrates proper use of service information systems
Works in field service as experienced Technician as required
Adheres to and follows all applicable and required safety standards and procedures
Works independently in the field as required

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or the equivalent required.
Technical training/education preferred.
Experience

A minimum of one (1) year's work experience involving mechanical repairs or a combination of relevant experience and equivalent technical education is required.
Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are required.
Skills and Competencies

Intermediate engine, transmission, hydraulic, electrical diagnostic, and repair skills
Written and verbal communication skills
Basic computer skills
Job Training

Area specific technical training
OSHA and MSHA required training
Vendor technical software (Infocast, Liftnet, SIMSi, etc.)
Safety Summary

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a Lift Truck Service Department shop or on the location of customer job sites.
Exposure to physical risk and all-weather conditions is associated with this position.
Standing, typically on hard surfaces, for extended periods of time is often required.
Physical Requirements

Pass pre-employment background check, physical exam (including drug screen), and meet all physical requirements for position.
Ability to speak, listen, write, and type effectively
Reaching, grasping, and stooping
Kneeling and crawling under equipment
Climbing ladders and equipment
Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs.
