Red Hat Administrator

Location: Hybrid onsite, 3 days in Boston (core days: Tues- Thurs)

PURPOSE

We are seeking a highly skilled Red Hat Linux System Administrator with a solid background in managing and maintaining Linux-based infrastructure. This role requires expertise in configuration management using Ansible and proficiency in Veritas technologies for storage management and data protection. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring system stability, implementing automation, troubleshooting issues, and managing backup and recovery solutions.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Linux System Administration:

Manage, configure, and maintain Linux servers.
Monitor system performance to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
Perform regular system patches, upgrades, and maintenance tasks.
Strong understanding of RHEL architecture and system management tools.
Solid background in Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Cluster and IDM.
Proficiency in scripting with Shell, Python, or related programming languages.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, etc.).
Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.).
Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible.
Troubleshoot and resolve operating system-related issues.
2. Ansible Automation:

Design, deploy, and manage Ansible playbooks to automate system provisioning, software deployments, and configuration.
Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to streamline system administration tasks.
3. Veritas Backup and Storage Management:

Administer and maintain Veritas products including NetBackup, Volume Manager, and Cluster Server.
Set up and manage storage solutions to ensure data availability, reliability, and integrity.
Perform backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning using Veritas tools.
Troubleshoot storage and backup issues to minimize disruption.
4. System and Security Compliance:

Ensure compliance with organizational policies regarding security, access controls, and change management.
Implement best practices in system hardening and vulnerability management.
Collaborate with security teams to address and remediate any risks.
5. Collaboration and Documentation:

Work with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure needs for applications and services.
Create and maintain detailed documentation for procedures, processes, and configurations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

5+ years of experience in Red Hat Linux system administration.
Hands-on experience with Ansible, including playbook and role development.
Strong proficiency in Veritas technologies (Volume Manager, Cluster Server, Veritas replication).
Solid understanding of Unix scripting (bash, Shell, etc.).
Familiarity with networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.) and storage solutions.
Preferred Skills:

Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, etc.).
Knowledge of cloud platforms is preferred. (Azure)
Understanding of containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Competencies:

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations and prioritize tasks effectively.
