Impact
The Credit Intern will support key initiatives within the Credit Division through project-based assignments and operational assistance. This role provides hands-on exposure to credit administration, portfolio management, and lending operations, while contributing to process improvements and overall team efficiency.
This internship is designed to offer practical experience in a regulated financial services environment, with opportunities to develop foundational knowledge in credit risk, documentation management, and compliance.
Responsibilities
This role supports the Bank's strategic objectives by contributing to accurate, timely, and compliant credit and portfolio reporting. Through strong attention to detail and effective coordination, the intern helps enhance data integrity, supports credit risk monitoring efforts, and reinforces adherence to regulatory and internal standards. In doing so, the role enables more informed decision-making across the organization and contributes to the overall strength of the Bank's risk management framework.
Essential Functions
Support documentation management by organizing, uploading, and maintaining credit files in DocuWare to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standards.
Assist in reviewing credit files for completeness and adherence to documentation requirements; identify missing or outdated items and escalate for resolution.
Assist with portfolio monitoring activities, including coordinating financial information request letters, tracking borrower responses, and conducting follow ups.
Support the preparation and maintenance of portfolio tracking reports, including loan maturities, financial reporting status, and exceptions.
Assist in tracking covenant compliance, financial reporting exceptions, and upcoming loan maturities to support proactive portfolio management.
Contribute to the preparation of extension memos to document borrower requests for renewal of existing credit facilities prior to maturity.
Support internal audits, loan reviews, and regulatory examinations by gathering, organizing, and validating requested documentation.
Coordinate with internal teams to obtain required information and support workflow completion.
Participate in process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency within workflows.
Complete assigned project work and, where applicable, present findings or recommendations to support operational improvements.
Provide administrative and operational support across projects and day to day activities, as assigned.
Maintain strict confidentiality of borrower and Bank information in accordance with data privacy and security standards.
Adhere to all internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, with a focus on identifying and escalating potential credit risk exposures.
Collaborate with team members to support workflow coordination and maximize productivity.
Ancillary Functions
Ensure ongoing adherence to Bank policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal and state regulatory requirements.
Provide cross-functional support to other departments within the Bank when service needs or workload demands arise.
Perform additional supportive tasks related to the essential functions of the role, which may be adjusted or redesigned based on operational needs or individual circumstances.
Mandatory Training
Training is required of all Bank staff as related to regulatory mandated compliance topics and courses required for specific job functions. Career enhancement training courses are also available.

Requirements
Experience
Prior internship, part time role, or academic project work related to banking, finance, or business operations is a plus. Experience working with data, spreadsheets, or document management systems preferred. Exposure to financial statements, lending concepts, or credit analysis through coursework is a plus.
Salary Range
$32,760 - $36,400
