The UNIX engineering team is responsible for UNIX servers we have in our colocation facilities as well as the EC2 instances in the cloud. Our #1 goal is to maintain a stable, healthy, and scalable platform, providing resiliency and solid performance for all UNIX servers across our business units through automation, best practices, and SME support.
o We assure Stability, Availability and Reliability for thousands of servers to support a wide range of applications in a hybrid Cloud environment
o We strive to prevent service impacts in a wide-ranging and constantly evolving ecosystem, assure rapid recoverability from any impacts to business and services
o We strategize and transform IT with Automation and Process Engineering
Your Impact:
In this role, you will be an integral part of the Engineering team within the platform and Infrastructure services group and expected to perform in the following areas
o Flexibility to be onsite for issues and server builds. Need to live close to Mclean office
Qualifications:
o College Degree with 6-8 years demonstrated experience in Information Technology with in-depth knowledge of Linux and Infrastructure Engineering
o Physical server Builds, Linux security concepts and familiarity with firmware patching
o Prior experience with scripting and automation using (Python, Ansible, Jenkins and shell and bash scripting)
o Experience with CICD pipelines for code versioning and code deployments
o Should have an inclination for innovation and current trends and focus on implementation the latest trends in-house.
o Understanding of vulnerability management and risk remediation
o Understanding of HA and DR concepts as they apply to Infrastructure Designs
o Experience with Legacy to Current Infrastructure migrations
o Communicates well within the team to set clear goals and effectively relay the status and accomplishments to management
o An eye for automating common processes
