Job Summary
Applies accounting principles, theories, and concepts to specific financial systems and processes. Performs a range of defined accounting tasks, including reviewing financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other applicable requirements. Reconciles reports and financial data, identifying and resolving discrepancies or errors. Prepares and records entries and adjustments to agency accounts, ledgers, and financial records. Monitors federal funding to ensure proper alignment and matching of state and federal expenditures, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations.

Job Duties

Responsible for day-to-day operational activities related to processing revenue transactions, including checks, cash, wire transfers, and credit card payments.

Ensures all accounting data is accurately entered into AZ360 and coordinates with the Revenue Supervisor to obtain approval of accounting documents.

Provides timely communication to program areas as payments are received and deposited into the appropriate accounting structure.

Collaborates with programs to obtain input on unidentified payments, replacement payments for NSF checks, ACH returns, chargebacks, and the resolution of deposit discrepancies.

Responsible for processing adjustments to balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and proper financial reporting.

Main contact and administrator for Pcards and Travel Cards. Trains new card holders, answers emails and questions related to Pcard and Travel Card accounts, performs a monthly audit of all Pcard and Travel card transactions to ensure compliance with SAAM policies, assist with GAO semiannual audits.

Serves as the primary point of contact for processing refunds owed to external customers via check, credit card, and ACH. Provides guidance to program staff on refund procedures, ensuring all required supporting documentation is obtained and processes comply with SAAM policies.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a closely related field required; two years’ experience as an Accountant 1, 2 or equivalent.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then a valid driver’s license is required.

Retirement
