General Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for leading the full lifecycle of construction projects, including estimating, planning, execution, financial performance, and closeout. This role partners closely with general superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and customers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing clear communication on project status, risks, and performance. This position requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, with evenings, nights, and weekends as required based on project demands. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, MSHA, and OSHA regulations

Promote and enforce safe work practices across all project teams

Manage project schedules, sequencing, and resource allocation

Coordinate material flow, subcontractors, and field operations

Lead project estimating efforts, including scope development and cost analysis

Review contracts, plans, and specifications to ensure scope accuracy and risk mitigation

Track project costs, budgets, and financial performance to ensure profitability

Oversee billing processes, forecasting, and cost reporting

Provide regular project updates, forecasts, and performance insights to leadership and clients

Serve as the primary liaison between field operations, subcontractors, and customers

Support subcontractor selection, negotiation, and performance management

Identify project risks and proactively implement solutions to maintain schedule and budget

Respond to delays, emergencies, and field challenges

Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements

Maintain accurate project documentation including contracts, change orders, and reports

Drive accountability, communication, and performance across project teams

Participate in continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives

Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

5+ years of experience in construction project management, estimating, or heavy civil operations required

Experience with NCDOT, municipal, or infrastructure projects strongly preferred

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents

Strong understanding of estimating, cost control, and project financial performance

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence teams and stakeholders

Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Experience with construction/project management software preferred

Strong organizational and time management skills

Demonstrated leadership and decision-making abilities in a construction environment

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Combination of office and field-based work

Regular presence on active construction job sites required

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction environments

Moderate physical activity including walking job sites and uneven terrain

Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
