
Senior Program Coordinator

Overview
Rutgers University-Newark (RU‑N) is an urban public research university and anchor institution in Newark, New Jersey. Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick (RBS) is a two‑campus business school with more than 10,000 students. The Senior Program Coordinator will oversee the professional mentoring of RBS students, student leadership programs, and any other student programs assigned at RBS in Newark and New Brunswick. Reporting to the Director of SEER, the coordinator will organize, implement, and continuously improve mentoring and leadership development initiatives that connect students with alumni and corporate partners.
Responsibilities
Manage day‑to‑day operations, recruitment and communications, mentor/mentee matching logistics, event planning, and data tracking for the program(s) they are responsible for.
Prepare semester and annual reports, and collaborate across RBS and university offices to deliver high‑quality experiences that advance student engagement and professional development.
Organize and implement mentoring and leadership development initiatives that connect students with alumni and corporate partners.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices.
Minimum of two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy in program coordination or administrative functions in higher education, student development, alumni relations, or a related setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to plan events, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience engaging diverse populations and stakeholders.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Google Forms); familiarity with web content and social media platforms for program communications.
Ability and willingness to travel between campuses and off‑campus events in the NY/NJ metro area; ability to work some evening and weekend hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Three to five (3–5) years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education, alumni/corporate engagement or early talent initiatives.
Experience coordinating mentoring programs, student leadership initiatives, corporate partner engagement or early talent initiatives.
Familiarity with Rutgers systems (e.g., Affinaquest, CVENT) and basic budget/expense tracking in an academic setting.
Experience with CRM or engagement platforms and with developing data dashboards and program assessments.
Familiarity with Chronus or a mentoring system.

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. It is largely sedentary, but may require bending, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
