Job Summary

Visual Soft, Inc is seeking qualified candidates to work on our efforts with a Prime for their end customer, a federal agency.

Position: Junior SOC – Security Analyst. US Citizenship is a MUST.

Work arrangement: 4 days onsite and 1 day remote at present. The role may become 100% onsite in the near future.

Location: Washington, DC, next to Union Station metro.

Compensation: Based on certifications, education and experience; very competitive.

Shift schedule:

1st shift – M-F 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

2nd shift – M-F 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Candidates willing to work in either shift are highly desired.

Responsibilities

The Junior SOC Analyst primarily monitors and responds to alerts triggered in the SIEM tool or requests for assistance from customers. The SOC Analyst uses a variety of tools to investigate incidents, take immediate action, or recommend a course of action to safeguard U.S. Courts systems.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience working in a SOC environment (prior or ongoing).

Experience with network intrusion detection, including investigating network traffic, reading and interpreting log and sniffer packets.

Proficiency with Wireshark and the ability to analyze data from multiple sources over time to create a logical narrative of observed behavior.

Proficiency in communication, both oral and written, to clearly convey findings and recommendations.

Specialized experience: 2+ years performing intrusion detection analytics, including examining logs and console events in Splunk, Snort‑based IDS events, PCAP, web server log review, and working within a SIEM environment.

Associate degree preferred; industry certifications such as Security+, CySA+, or CEH desired.

U.S. Citizenship required.
