Software Development Engineer, RDS Security Monitoring
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated software engineer to join our mission to make AWS the best place to operate relational databases, especially in the world of agentic AI. The RDS Security Monitoring team owns features that help customers monitor their Aurora and RDS databases and surface security findings to address and mitigate various attack vectors. This is a rare opportunity to join a highly visible team that is delivering transformative agentic AI solutions to help customers protect their growing fleet of Aurora and RDS databases.

Key Responsibilities
Develop a product that captures and analyzes security telemetry from Aurora and RDS databases and surfaces security findings to our customers.
Develop and operate agentic AI solutions that use that security telemetry to troubleshoot and mitigate security threats.
Ensure the product operates on millions of instances and helps customers monitor and protect their databases.
Solve the hardest engineering challenges in distributed systems at massive scale.
Deliver solid, scalable, efficient, and highly fault‑tolerant solutions as a customer‑facing AWS service.
Take ownership of the operational excellence of the service.
Resolve ambiguity, innovate on behalf of customers, and maintain a collaborative mindset.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
