Leidos, is seeking a talented
Quality Manager for Manufacturing
to support commercial, aerospace, and defense manufacturing/production programs at our Alabama and Colorado locations. The position is located in Huntsville, Alabama. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos-Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
Serves as the primary quality control authority for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
Previous experience managing Quality Engineers, Quality Inspectors and etc.
Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
Plan quality control staffing needs based on product manufacturing requirements, and delegate activities to Quality Engineer, Technician, and Inspector staff.
Establish and mature a robust Statistical Process Control program and Inspection Reduction utilizing Sampling criteria from ASQ/ANSI Z1.4 and Z1.9.
Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring Quality Control system effectiveness.
Leads root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify Root Cause and establish effective corrective actions and process improvements.
Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality.
Develop quality planning methods for all product lines within the plant.
Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the plant’s product lines.
Propose and justify expenditures for new quality equipment or training programs.
Foster a culture of innovation within the quality team, encouraging the adoption of new techniques and technologies that can enhance quality.
Train and mentor staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential quality issues and ensure continuous production without major disruptions.
Reports to Quality Management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
Participates in internal and external quality audits.
Exhibit strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills to ensure collaboration across multiple functional groups within the organization.
Collaborates with DCMA and other government and/or customer quality assurance organizations.
Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
All other reasonable duties, as assigned.
This position manages all Quality Control employees of a manufacturing plant and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that team.
Manage the quality department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality standards.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent number of years of experience.
Must have 8 years of experience in QA/QC systems implementation and/or management in a manufacturing and/or product-based environment. Fifteen (12+) years of experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
Experience in an industrial manufacturing or electrical manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of SMT and soldering processes.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Management of Quality Engineers.
Experience in a QMS compliant with AS9100/ISO9001.
Candidates must be a resident of or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, Al area.
Must be US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in leading skilled professionals in a matrix environment.
Familiarity with Windchill, Solumina or other similar Engineering or work planning systems.
Direct experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Quality Module implementation.
Experience in development of Corrective Action Board presentations using Ishikawa Fishbone, 8D or other problem-solving tools.
Experience briefing customers and executives regarding high level status updates, Root Cause, Corrective Action and Lessons Learned.
Pay Range
$116,350.00 - $210,325.00
