Job Description:
The Dissertation and Thesis Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the thesis and dissertation program activities in accordance with the prescribed procedures as outlined in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board regulations and procedures and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools criteria for accreditations, University policies and procedures, and the Graduate Catalog. Responsible for reviewing student theses and dissertations for conformity with university published discipline-specific style guides.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides technical editing of thesis and dissertation proposals and final products
Supports Associate Dean in administration of thesis and dissertation processes
Tracks, reads, and provides feedback regarding format and consistency thesis and dissertation proposals and final products
Verifies that dissertations and theses adhere to university research compliance areas (human subjects, animal care and use, biosafety, export control and responsible conduct in research and scholarship), when applicable
Coordinates and plans outreach and education efforts for thesis and dissertation processes, including offering trainings and workshops
Maintains thesis and dissertation databases
Provides e-mail communication containing feedback, processes, and final approvals from the Graduate School
Coordinates the Graduate Representative process for dissertation proposal defenses
Develops thesis and dissertation resources for student and faculty use
Maintains the Office of Thesis and Dissertation website
Maintains student records related to thesis and dissertation processes
Coordinates the Summer Thesis and Dissertation Fellowship processes
Tracks and communicates with students and faculty regarding the status of theses/dissertations
Collaborates with the Library to maintain thesis and dissertation style manuals collection
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience (High school and four years of experience may substitute degree).
Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Two (2) to Four (4) years of related experience. Advanced knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet, imaging applications, verbal skills, and organizational skills.
Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education / Skills/ Experience:
Master's degree. Knowledge of university procedures, Coordinating Board regulations and SACSCOC criteria.
