Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer for a leading innovative manufacturer based near Birmingham, AL. This role will focus on improving manufacturing efficiency, standardization, and material flow within Final Assembly and warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience in process optimization, time studies, and engineering change management in a fast‑paced production environment.
This is a high-impact, short‑term role ideal for an engineer who can quickly assess operations, implement improvements, and deliver measurable results.
Location: Birmingham, AL | Job type: Contract | Salary: $40‑50 per hour | Work hours: 8 am to 4 pm | Education: Bachelor’s degree
Responsibilities
Improve manufacturing efficiency, standardization, and material flow within Final Assembly and warehousing operations.
Optimize production processes, improve efficiency and throughput, support new product introduction, and drive continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.
Develop, document, and implement standard work instructions for Final Assembly processes.
Conduct detailed time studies to establish accurate labor standards and identify process improvement opportunities.
Streamline ECO and revision control processes.
Improve warehouse/supermarket layout and material flow efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience creating standard work instructions and conducting time studies.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, continuous improvement).
Experience with warehouse/material flow optimization.
Familiarity with Engineering Change Orders (ECO) processes and document revision control.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in high‑volume or automotive manufacturing environments.
Six Sigma or Lean certification (Green Belt or higher preferred).
