Embedded Software Engineer Sr.
Location: Owego, NY
Key Responsibilities
Develop embedded software for mission and communication systems.
Collaborate across engineering disciplines to develop C/C++ and Python applications, integrate algorithms, and support verification and testing activities.
Design, develop, test, and debug safety- and mission-critical avionics software.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on software/hardware interfaces.
Support documentation, error correction, and performance validation.
Participate in certification activities, including requirements and code reviews to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent STEM field.
3+ years related professional experience.
Experience using C, C++, or similar programming languages.
Experience with full software life-cycle development, processes, and tools.
Experience with Git/GitLab, Visual Studio, and Atlassian products.
Proven leadership experience in engineering assignments and successful results.
Understanding of Agile, DevSecOps and Digital Transformation (Dx).
Strong grasp of engineering development processes.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Active Secret Level security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain it.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Experience with agile software development lifecycle and release management.
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Experience in product line development and related processes such as ECB and CCB.
Experience with configuration management of engineering work products.
Leading multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.
Agile coaching experience or certifications (e.g., Product Owner, Scrum Master, SAFe).
Work Arrangements
Part‑time remote telework combined with on‑site work at Lockheed Martin facility.
Schedule: 4 × 10‑hour day, 3 days off per week.
Travel: up to 10% required.
Security Clearance
This position requires a US Citizenship and a government security clearance at the Secret level.
Pay & Benefits
Annual base salary range: $93,200–$164,450 (California, Massachusetts, New York; excluding major metropolitan areas) or $107,300–$185,840 (most major metropolitan areas). Compensation varies by location and includes comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
