Job Description
The Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Genetics. The department has begun a major expansion of the faculty as part of a five‑year strategic plan. We seek outstanding creative investigators in any area of genetics, including but not limited to gene expression and regulation, functional genomics and systems biology, developmental genetics, immunogenetics, molecular mechanisms of disease, evolutionary genetics, and other related fields.

Our active research programs span mammalian (human, mouse), Drosophila, viral, bacterial, cancer, and comparative genetics, with expertise in gene discovery, genome editing, transcriptional and co/post‑transcriptional regulation, RNA biochemistry, disease mechanisms, structural biology, protein biochemistry, multi‑omics, and computational biology. The department offers a highly collegial and collaborative environment and interactions with numerous colleges, institutes, and centers that foster interdisciplinary research at UF.

Responsibilities
Develop a vibrant, externally funded research program. Participate in graduate‑level teaching. Recruit and mentor outstanding trainees. Promote diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Required Qualifications
PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in biomedical sciences or a related field of study.

Preferred Qualifications
Cutting‑edge research in the genetics of human disease, including the genetics of microsatellite repeats.
