Supplier Quality Engineer

What we’re looking for
We are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Quality team. This Engineer will oversee the vendor service process to ensure specifications are being met and will help track on‑time delivery for all products supporting the production operation. This quality professional will monitor the implementation of appropriate quality assurance methods to prevent product nonconformity and ensure compliance and effectiveness within our internal Quality Management System (QMS).

What you’ll be responsible for in this role

Interface with Procurement, Product Management, Product Engineering and Suppliers to successfully deploy New Product Development – Introduction (NPD – I) projects including capability assessments, compliance reviews and risk assessment of potential sources of supply.

Manage and execute supplier QMS audits and work with suppliers to close out any audit or non‑conformance findings.

Issue, track and follow up on supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) to confirm supplier quality issues are being addressed while providing feedback for supplier corrective actions resulting in timely and effective root cause identification and issue closure.

Support design for manufacture and assembly activities between the factory, design team, and suppliers.

Coordinate advanced product quality planning (APQP) activities and manage projects with minimum supervision.

Manage multiple supplier quality issues in conjunction with key stakeholders, resolving day‑to‑day problems, ensuring effective containment and corrective action for nonconformances.

Develop production part approval process (PPAP) requirements and communicate to suppliers. Collaborate with Product Engineering as appropriate to ensure effective evaluation of components, sub‑assemblies and finished products. Manage PPAP sample organization, evaluation and throughput.

Help create, lead and follow up on continuous improvement action plans (CIAP) with underperforming suppliers.

Track PPM on a monthly basis for key suppliers.

Assist in development of suppliers to ensure they meet DFR expectations.

Review warranty data and follow up with suppliers to confirm issues are being addressed and ultimately reduce the number of claims in the field.

Support incoming inspection activities and maintain a list of critical parts that require to be in incoming inspection. Follow up with the supplier when issues are found.

Help quarantine material when non‑conforming product is found on the production line.

Assist in development of suppliers to ensure they meet quality requirements specified.

Disposition and communicate in instances of non‑conforming material to effectively recover from any disruption to supply.

10% travel may be required.

Basic qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) with minimum 2+ years of quality engineering experience.

Fit for the role

Technical problem solving and experience with 8Ds, Six Sigma and other problem solving tools.

Clear, concise and articulate verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization.

Ability to manage multiple and competing projects involving both internal customers as well as external suppliers.

Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems with creative solutions.

Impeccable organization and efficiency skills; strong attention to detail.

Interface with wide array of individuals, balance multiple tasks and maintain a positive attitude and energy.

Strong team player, work ethic and commitment to win.

Ability to lead change management initiatives.

Experience with APQP.
