
CMT Field / Lab Technician (Entry)

Job Description
As a CMT Field / Lab Technician (Entry), you’ll play a hands‑on role in ensuring construction materials meet project and safety standards. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals in the field and lab, learning the fundamentals of construction materials testing while contributing to projects that directly impact local communities. Safety, accuracy, and teamwork are central to this role.
Core Responsibilities
Obtain and maintain required certifications, training documentation, and safety records in accordance with project, company, and industry standards.
Review project plans and specifications to understand testing, inspection, and compliance requirements.
Collect representative samples and perform field inspections and testing on materials including rebar, epoxy, concrete, masonry, asphalt, and related construction components.
Assist with laboratory testing and analysis of construction materials as needed.
Prepare accurate, complete inspection and test reports and ensure timely submission before leaving the job site.
Track time, materials, expenses, and communications accurately while maintaining a professional image and supporting regional workload demands as assigned.

A High School diploma or GED and a general understanding of construction work.
The ability to read, understand, and consistently follow written procedures.
At least two years of experience in concrete and soil compaction.
The physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work outdoors in varying conditions.
A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and proof of insurance.
The ability to pass a pre‑employment drug test and comply with random testing after hire.
A professional work ethic, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
Clear verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work courteously with the public, contractors, supervisors, and team members.
Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, late evenings, or travel out of town when needed.
The ability and motivation to earn and maintain required certifications (OSHA 10, ACI, ICC, WAQTC), use basic computer tools, complete accurate field reports, manage timecards/expenses, and apply basic math and writing skills.
