Overview

The Attorney General’s Office is seeking a highly motivated attorney with extensive prosecutorial experience to handle narcotics and firearms investigations and cases within the Enterprise & Major Crimes Division of the Criminal Bureau. The Criminal Bureau collaborates with intelligence analysts, investigators, and law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute large-scale narcotics trafficking and firearms cases throughout the Commonwealth.
Responsibilities

Handle a large caseload of narcotics and firearms-related matters from investigation through sentencing.
Collaborate with law enforcement, grand jury investigations, and appearances before District and Superior Courts for motions, pleas, and trials.
Lead investigations with Massachusetts State Police Troopers and other local, state, and federal agencies (e.g., U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration).
Review search warrants, including GPS tracking, ping data, cell-site location information (CSLI), and wiretaps.
Engage in extensive grand jury practice, working with witnesses, victims, and victim-witness advocates.
Manage all phases of litigation in Superior Court, including motions to suppress, trials, and related civil forfeiture claims.
Position Type

Full-Time/Exempt.
Location

Springfield Regional office; hybrid model with some telework days. For the first six months, in-office presence is expected three or four days per week.
Salary

$87,500-$130,595, commensurate with JD year.

Qualifications

Must be a practicing attorney and a member of the Massachusetts bar.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in state criminal practice, including grand jury investigations, motion practice, and trials.
Ability to handle a large and advanced caseload with substantial Superior Court experience.
Background in narcotics-related investigations and prosecution; extensive experience with reviewing search warrants and wiretap warrants preferred.
A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required, as travel is necessary to various courts.
