Qualifications
Certified teacher with at least three (3) years experience at the primary level or in specialized math with primary students
Professional development experience including courses or workshops on math development
Knowledge of mathematical computation including fluency building, problem solving, and approaches to differentiated math instruction
Deep understanding of the SC College and Career Ready Standards including the Standards for Mathematical Practice
Ability to establish a collaborative relationship with other teachers, parents and administrators
Organized and skilled at record keeping

Reports To: Principal
Job Goal
To work with small groups of children with in-depth math instruction; to communicate with parents, teachers and principals regarding each child's needs and progress.
Performance Responsibilities
Administer an initial math assessment to children at the start of the school year to identify those most in need of math intervention.
Keep careful records on each child (e.g., daily lesson records, running records, weekly progress charts, record of math fact fluency, etc.).
Administer running records, math assessments, and recommendations for the discontinuation of children from the program.
Instruct individual and small groups of students for the purpose of improving mathematics achievement levels.
Use knowledge of assessment and remediation strategies for increasing student achievement.
Provide a high level of skill in all aspects of instruction that accelerates the learning of students struggling in mathematics.
Monitor the progress of children to inform teaching and motivate learners.
Communicate with teachers regarding math intervention students through regular conferences.
Coordinate across instructional settings the instruction provided to students in need with school personnel, including the principal, and district administrators.
Demonstrate effective teaching using various effective strategies to encourage academic growth in diverse learners.
Perform other duties as assigned.
