OVERVIEW
The Summer Academy is a Monday-Thursday program designed to provide targeted tutoring for students in grades K–8. This dedicated initiative provides specialized support in both math and reading, focusing on strengthening foundational skills and accelerating academic growth. The Summer Academy aims to propel students toward academic excellence by building confidence, deepening comprehension, and improving overall performance in math and reading. By offering consistent, focused instruction throughout the week, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the support and opportunity needed to succeed academically.
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
Under the supervision of the Principal, the Summer Academy Assistant Principal supervises the students and personnel assigned to the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitor student data and progress documentation
Supervise students during transitions, including arrival and dismissal
Effectively communicate with multiple departments to ensure smooth programming
Work in collaboration with staff and other teachers
Comply with and enforce school rules and school board policies and procedures
Attend each identified session in its entirety
Attend training and data sessions
Monitor the attendance of students and personnelCollect weekly timesheets and submit payroll information to the division lead
Conduct daily instructional walks to provide feedback and coaching to teachers
Support the Principal in assigned duties
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia license in Administration and Supervision
Must have extensive successful experience in instruction, as evidenced by student performance data on standardized assessments
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
June 29-July 23, 2026, 8 hours per day
EVALUATION
Performance evaluation will be conducted using final student performance data (i.e., SOL performance and growth data).
