Environmental Service Aide – Casual (HDMH)
Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi‑site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site.
Responsibilities
Perform housekeeping duties, preventative cleaning tasks and assigned custodial duties in all areas of the facility to ensure the environment meets required standards.
Perform duties related to hard floor maintenance, deep cleaning, carpet care, garbage pick up, recycling and carpet vacuuming programs.
Adhere to daily, weekly and monthly cleaning check‑off lists, workplace policies and routines; including refinishing of wall surfaces as assigned, hanging drapes and curtains, washing and making beds, and transporting clean and soiled linens.
Support continuous quality improvement by providing constructive ideas and solutions related to resource use, waste control, and reporting abnormal supply use to supervisor.
Use professional communication to establish relationships with patients and co‑workers, ensuring respect, dignity and individuality.
Ensure daily neatness and cleanliness of patient rooms, common areas, furniture, closets, mobility devices, tubs / bathrooms (including commode chairs), utility rooms and kitchens.
Participate in continuing education to maintain and enhance skills and abilities.
Required Education & Certification
Secondary School Diploma.
Successful completion of Public Health Ontario’s Environmental Toolkit based on the Best Practices for Environmental Cleaning for Prevention and Control of Infections, PIDAC 2018, within one month of start date.
Required Skills & Experience
Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to work well with others in an interdisciplinary team environment.
Self‑motivated and able to work and complete workload assignments with minimal supervision.
High attention to detail and thoroughness throughout assignments.
Show eagerness and capacity to adapt to change. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting, standing, walking and operating various equipment for extended periods.
Desired Skills, Experience & Education
Previous environmental aide experience in a healthcare facility is considered an asset.

Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shift and hour schedules may change according to departmental requirements and the collective agreement.
Conditions of Employment for External Hires:
