Position Overview

Flight Test Engineering (FTE) Manager

– Seattle, WA. Support the growing franchise of Mobility & Surveillance platforms (including E-7 and KC‑46 aircraft) within the Boeing Test & Evaluation organization.
Position Responsibilities

Provide oversight of engineering employees responsible for test planning, definition and authorization of airplane configuration changes, test conduct and data analysis in support of development and sustaining flight test programs.
Provide leadership in test program development and integration, scheduling and execution, trade studies and departmental processes/policies.
Assess and lead resolution of issues impacting test program progress, including root‑cause corrective action to prevent recurrence.
Utilize operational skills to raise team performance and meet cost, schedule and quality commitments.
Develop and maintain budgets, schedules, earned value metrics and performance measures.
Build relationships and partnerships with customers, peers, suppliers, direct reports and other stakeholders.
Manage, develop and motivate employees.
Occasional travel for remote testing up to 4‑6 weeks at a time.
Basic Qualifications

U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (interim or final) post‑start.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
At least one year of leadership experience (team leader, manager, cross‑functional project) or completion of the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
5+ years of experience in an engineering role.
5+ years of experience working in a lab test, flight test, or similar test environment.
3+ years of experience leading or managing projects involving cross‑functional or cross‑business unit teams.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Proficiency working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Active U.S. Security Clearance.
3+ years of collaborative leadership with internal and external stakeholders.
3+ years of experience leading large or complex teams of managers and/or non‑management employees.
3+ years of experience leading teams in a developmental lab and/or flight test environment.
1+ year of experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
Flight test program experience and technical domain knowledge.
Effective communication at multiple levels.
Strategic planning experience and ability to assess and improve organizational health to create a culture of high performance.
Experience in project management and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
Experience working directly with military customers or regulatory agencies on programs.
Experience with large, transport‑category aircraft test programs.

Pay & Benefits

Competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. Eligible employees may enroll in a variety of benefit programs including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, and paid/unpaid time away from work. Pay is based on experience, qualifications, market and business considerations. Summary pay range: $151,300 – $204,700.
