Lead Electrical Engineer
We are a global leader in Stainless Steel and seek a dynamic Lead Electrical Engineer to lead Melt Shop Maintenance engineers, specialists, and electricians to perform all tasks related to maintaining the reliability and safety of the Melt Shop and associated equipment. The role will guide them to deliver creative solutions that exceed standard engineering results, spend time researching, and challenge staff, vendors, and engineering firms to devise original concepts that transform the company into an industry leader.
Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering degree with additional certifications or 10 years equivalent work experience
Master of Engineering degree preferred
Experience with Electric Arc Furnaces, Switchgear, Power Distribution, Controls and Control Systems, especially Siemens and Allen-Bradley
Advanced practical understanding of electrical drawings and schematics, as well as related mechanical and hydraulic drawings
PMP/CAPM preferred
Understanding of reliability-centered maintenance programs, predictive maintenance technologies, reliability and asset management
Advanced troubleshooter of all equipment failures (variable frequency drives, motors, transformers, scales, temperature devices, etc.)
Experience as a project managing, service engineer, or equipment designer beneficial
Knowledge in multiple functional areas including engineering, operations, continuous improvement, project management, capital project, and project budgeting beneficial
Skills

Key Responsibilities
Provides advice and counsel by utilizing knowledge of engineering design principles, practices, project management, and reliability practices
Suggests and implements innovative and cost‑effective solutions to resolve maintenance/reliability issues
Develops and maintains working relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and consulting firms
Serves as project manager or technical lead for continuous improvement projects and capex projects
Work with reliability engineers to develop long‑term plans (3-5 years) for capital improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and rebuilds of assets
Drives continuous improvement by utilizing reliability and maintenance best practices
Promotes world‑class maintenance manufacturing and ensures maintenance, operations, engineering, purchasing, and stores work closely together to achieve success
Manages engineering resources to complete projects and support development of the engineering staff
Works with the team to improve equipment reliability and performance
Manages overall department projects and provides updates as requested
Works with the engineering team to ensure critical projects are completed in a timely manner and critical paths of projects and outages are met
Physical Requirements
Utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel‑toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
Ability to climb safely (stairs, ramps) and walk long distances, maintain good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles
Withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperatures for extended periods
Exposure to wet or humid conditions, vibrations, dust, and asphalt
Work in high‑noise environment where hearing protection is required
Frequent use of hand or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials
Work in areas with strong magnetic fields
Bend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by the position
Frequently reach with hands and arms
Communicate using radios, phones, or intercom systems
Perform physically demanding work including lifting/moving up to 50 lbs with proper lifting techniques
Safely use power and hand tools
Safely operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment for tasks and diagnostic purposes, including overhead cranes
Salary Range
106,100-145,900 plus monthly bonus.
