Description
Our client is looking for a Sr. Java Developer to play a hands‑on senior technologist/lead role in the analysis, technical design, development, modernization, and support of applications.
Candidate should have strong experience in Java, MVC pattern implementation (Spring), migrating legacy applications to modern frameworks, test automation, microservice architecture patterns, and troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues related to upgrades and/or modernization efforts.
Tasks
Provide technical leadership to guide the evolution of new and legacy applications toward modern architectures
Solve complex technical problems
Develop testing methodology and criteria and implement them on automated build processes
Empower the team by offering guidance, sharing knowledge, and providing actionable feedback
Skills Required
10+ years - Java/Jakarta EE
10+ years - Java 17+
5+ years - Spring Boot
4+ years - Hands on Architecture/Design
5+ years - SQL
5+ years - Oracle, SQL Server and DB2 databases
4+ years - PL/SQL stored procedures
4+ years - API development
4+ years - Microservices
4+ years - Webservices including SOAP and REST
5+ years - Angular
5+ years - Working in Hybrid and Agile Methodologies
4+ years - Strong background in Automated Testing
DevOps (Jenkins, GitHub)
Extensive knowledge of Git, code quality processes, and modern collaborative workflows
Working with IntelliJ
Familiarity with industry standard modernization patterns
4+ years - Batch process development
3+ years - DevSecOps best practices including leveraging SonarQube
Experience with Java build tools including Maven and Gradle
Python
Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
Designing, developing, and integrating APIs with OpenAPI
Working with Open Liberty
Leveraging AI to accelerate software development and testing practices (Github Copilot or similar)
Experience working with Government agencies
Location: Madison, WI. Candidates must be current Wisconsin residents. The selected hire will work a hybrid schedule (40% onsite and 60% remote).
