
Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Los Angeles

Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform high‑quality imaging studies, including PET, CT, and nuclear medicine/therapy procedures, ensuring accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Consistently rotate into clinical and cardiac sections and perform Nuclear Medicine/therapy, PET exams on gamma camera using approved procedures and protocols.
Work per the Senior Nuclear Medicine technologist's scope of practice and in accordance with institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
Receive and transcribe verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners.
Review all Nuclear Medicine/therapy, PET and CT images for accuracy and send images to designated viewing systems.
Perform section‑specific imaging QC using established technical factors and image identification.
Assist physicians during procedures and ensure supplies and devices are prepared, sterile, and compliant with infection control policies.
Adhere to radiation and medication management delivery, storage, security, and disposal guidelines; follow nuclear medicine safety policies and protocols.
Perform venipuncture.
Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals/medications for imaging and adjunctive therapies, following hospital guidelines for handling radioactive and non‑radioactive substances.
Enter accurate and timely documentation in all applicable electronic medical record systems, workbooks, and logs.
Maintain section workflow without jeopardizing patient care; serve as backup leadership as technologist in charge when the Team Leader is absent.
Prepare and present educational material to staff, such as case reviews, in‑services, safety, and Joint Commission related topics.
Participate in performance improvement activities and departmental committees, including The Joint Commission, safety audits, turnaround time projects, and customer service initiatives; assist in maintaining records for IAC accreditation.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Graduate of JRCNMT or a regionally accredited nuclear medicine program required.
Nuclear Medicine Certification (CNMT) from the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board or ARRT/N (R.T.) required.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required; expiration must be valid 60 days from start date.
California Nuclear Medicine Technologist Imaging Tech license required upon hire.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of experience performing a variety of Nuclear Medicine scans in a busy clinical environment.
