We are seeking a motivated Engineering professional to join our team. This role supports the development and improvement of manufacturing processes while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. The position partners with cross-functional teams to implement cost-effective production methods, support food and personnel safety programs, and coordinate the launch of new or revised products and equipment. This role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and supports capital projects by helping define requirements and monitoring material and labor costs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assume SME role in all production areas and work with engineering, quality, safety, and supervisors to provide sustaining engineering support and manage implementation of new products, processes, and equipment into the factory.
Lead and/or participate as a member of cross-functional teams.
Drive and track project progress to maintain project schedule and hit deadlines.
Develop and improve processes using LEAN principles.
Utilize structured problem solving for root cause analysis, corrective actions, and sustainable countermeasures.
Participate in FMEA design reviews.
Validate machines, process changes, and test sequences.
Make recommendations for process changes based on data analysis.
Demonstrate hands‑on attitude by understanding operator and supervisor needs.
Supports safety programs and guidelines in the production floor.
Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new or revised products including establishing processes and evaluating results.
Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow and production equipment.
Develops procedures and trains production personnel.
Follows established departmental rules, procedures, and policies. Maintain compliance with state and federal safety regulations.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
5 plus industrial/manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Process, Robotics, or Electrical Engineering. Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques, a plus.
Communication skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and technical information. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and peers. Ability to speak a second language, desirable (Spanish/English).
Technical skills: manufacturing processes and methods; including workflow, layout, assembly and production equipment.
Mathematical skills: Ability to do mathematical calculations (i.e. ratios, formulas). Problem analysis and problem resolution, required.
Computer skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and e‑mail programs. SOLIDWORKS or other Computer Assisted Design (CAD) proficiency required.
Safety: working knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
Work approaches: Routinely interacts with employees within own department. Routinely interacts with others in the organization and public (contractors, vendors, etc.).
PLC programming experience strongly desired.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position may be required to be on the production floor up to 75% daily.
Specific vision abilities are required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work may involve sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching with hands and arms.
Must be able to verbally communicate and actively listen.
May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
Frequent repeated set of similar motions of the hand and wrist movements.
The noise level in the office setting is moderately quiet. Upon entering the production floor hearing protection will be required.
POSITION TYPE AND WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full‑time position requiring employee to work on site. Work schedule is Monday through Friday. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
