Senior Director, Regional Medical Science Liaison Team Lead

This leadership role sits at the intersection of field medical strategy, oncology science, and high-impact team development within a fast-evolving biopharmaceutical environment. The position is responsible for leading and mentoring a regional team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) focused on lung oncology, ensuring consistent scientific engagement with key external stakeholders. You will play a critical role in shaping field medical strategy, driving thought leader engagement, and generating actionable insights that inform clinical and commercial decisions. This is a highly collaborative role that connects medical affairs, clinical development, and cross-functional launch teams. The leader will oversee performance metrics, professional development, and execution of regional medical plans across a large geographic territory. It is an opportunity to directly influence patient impact through scientific exchange and strategic field leadership in oncology.
Accountabilities:
Lead, develop, and mentor a regional team of Medical Science Liaisons, ensuring strong performance, scientific excellence, and continuous professional growth across all direct reports.
Drive execution of regional field medical strategy, including stakeholder engagement with healthcare providers, academic centers, and community oncology networks.
Oversee scientific exchange initiatives, thought leader engagement strategy, and insight generation activities to support clinical and launch priorities.
Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment on field execution and support clinical trial and site identification strategies.
Monitor, analyze, and report key performance indicators, providing actionable insights and updates to senior leadership on regional trends and outcomes.
Contribute to the development and optimization of field medical processes, including congress planning, medical reporting, and investigator-sponsored research support.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and patient-focused execution across regional and national field medical teams.
Requirements

Advanced scientific or medical degree (MD, PharmD, or PhD strongly preferred) with extensive experience in oncology or related therapeutic areas.
10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech Medical Affairs, including at least 5+ years in a leadership role managing Field Medical or MSL teams.
Strong background in lung oncology or targeted therapies, with experience supporting clinical development or global product launches preferred.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing scientific field teams in a matrixed organization.
Deep understanding of field medical best practices, regulatory guidelines (PhRMA), and compliant scientific engagement with healthcare stakeholders.
Proven leadership in cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to influence clinical, medical, and commercial partners effectively.
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and emotional intelligence skills, with strong executive presence.
Strong analytical, organizational, and project management capabilities, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
