Senior Duty Manager
Location: Dulles International Airport (IAD) Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour Employment Type: Hourly Schedule: Open/Flexible (must be available to work weekends and holidays)
Position Overview
The Senior Duty Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and seamless daily operation of wheelchair services for airline partners supported by Huntleigh USA at Dulles International Airport. This position is responsible for coordinating frontline teams, maintaining operational excellence, resolving non-routine situations, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced airport environment, communicates effectively with multiple stakeholders, and leads by example.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate wheelchair passenger services between team members, airline clients, and passengers
Dispatch Wheelchair Attendants efficiently while documenting incoming service requests
Ensure timely passenger pick-up and drop-off in alignment with airline expectations
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
Monitor and ensure proper sign-out and return of radios, phones, and equipment
Coordinate and document employee breaks and meal periods
Partner with coordinators to ensure wheelchairs are secured and stored in designated areas
Maintain open, clear, and continuous communication with team members and clients
Build and sustain strong working relationships with airline partners and internal teams
Recognize and reinforce positive performance and teamwork
Promote safety awareness, accountability, and compliance among Wheelchair Attendants
Ensure accurate completion of incident reports for accidents or unusual events
Maintain wheelchair logs to accurately document all passenger assists
Communicate professionally with Customs, TSA, and city personnel
Review staffing levels daily and ensure all required positions are fully staffed
Proactively address coverage gaps and operational challenges
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Proficiency with email and Microsoft Excel
Flexibility to work an open schedule, including weekends and holidays
