Industrial Engineer
Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking to hire an Industrial Engineer to provide support and direction for the manufacturing processes with US Spring. The Industrial Engineer will establish methods for controlling production costs, develop programs for reducing those costs, and manage asset control.
Responsibilities
Learn the manufacturing processes used by the company.
Develop a basic knowledge of all equipment used at US Spring Branches.
Gain product familiarity, including the product costing structures.
Develop performance measures and standards.
Develop and maintain incentive rates and wage incentive plans using work measurement techniques and predetermined time studies (MOST).
Communicate wage incentive systems to the Branch Managers, Manufacturing Managers, Branch Accountants, and Branch Partners.
Review branch quarterly payroll records to ensure proper calculations at regular intervals.
Monitor incentive payout across the manufacturing sites and review anomalies.
Monitor machinery utilization, efficiency reports and evaluate work performance.
Support the standardization of rates and standard cost across the manufacturing sites.
Select assembly methods and work area layout; ensure that all new products have incentive rates as soon as practical.
Create and maintain layout drawings for production areas and facilities using Visio or other drawing program.
Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, Risk Management, and Quality Assurance teams on the commissioning of new equipment.
Update and improve the plant layout and product flow by looking for ways to reduce non-value-added activities on the shop floor.
Work closely with Manufacturing Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors, and Employees on workflow improvements.
Continuously look for ways to improve safety and ergonomics of operations.
Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Manufacturing principles to optimize processes.
Strive for continuous process improvement in all areas of responsibility.
Perform operations research, including queuing theory, linear programming, and statistical analyses.
Calculate Return on Investment (ROI) for various improvement projects within the group.
Support fixed asset management across the US Spring Group.
Requirements
Good communication and presentation skills.
Ability to collaborate and work with all department and management teams.
Ability to use mathematics and statistics on a day-to-day basis.
Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Experience with project management.
Preferred Qualifications
Work Measurement and Time Study experience.
