Program hours of operation:

1:00 PM – 5:00/6:00 PM (varies per location)

Overview
Woodcraft Rangers was founded in 1922 and is dedicated to guiding young people as they explore pathways to purposeful lives. As an inclusive, youth-led organization, we focus on holistic development—body, mind, spirit, and service—across a network of more than 160 Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties.

What We Do
We provide expanded learning programs for TK‑12 students, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. Our services now include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our Lifecraft program supports the career development of approximately 1,500 staff.

Job Summary
Club Leaders create engaging, inclusive learning environments for about 20 children. They collaborate with a site coordinator and community liaison and may choose to work in school sites, sleepaway camp, or both. The role is on‑site and includes annual training at the Woodcraft Rangers main office in Little Tokyo.

Role Overview

Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.

Develop and lead age‑appropriate, fun, and engaging program activities aligned with a whole‑child approach.

Monitor participant attendance and engagement.

Build positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Collaborate to design culminating activities or events showcasing participants’ work.

Request required materials in a timely manner to support the Site Coordinator’s budgeting.

Comply with all safety requirements, emergency protocols, and required certifications.

Attend off‑site field trips as needed.

Maintain and submit daily student attendance records.

Participate in up to 15 hours of staff development training over the spring semester.

Report to the Site Coordinator and Program Manager for assigned duties.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate
Detail‑oriented, energetic, ambitious, proactive, and positive. Works independently and collaboratively, excels in multitasking, and communicates effectively. Comfortable presenting and speaking in front of staff during training sessions.

Requirements

Experience in expanded learning programs or youth recreational facilities.

High school diploma or GED (AA Degree in Child Development or related field preferred).

Experience working with K‑12 students in academic or recreational settings.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Computer literacy.

Valid LIVE Scan, TB Clearance, and CPR certification.

Successful completion of an assessment test evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills.

Physical Demands

Stand frequently.

Use hands for handling or operating a computer.

Talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment
The role requires regular exposure to a computer monitor and typical office noise levels.
