Full Time Fort Worth, TX, US
4 days ago Requisition ID: 2028
Company Overview:
MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.
We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next‑generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.
We hire ambitious, mission‑driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) Business Partner / Functional Lead to support MP Materials’ operations across multiple sites, including magnet manufacturing in Fort Worth, Texas and mining and refining operations in Mountain Pass, California. This role aligns within MP Materials’ SAP Center of Excellence operating model and serves as the enterprise SAP functional lead for Plant Maintenance across the organization.
This position is responsible for ensuring SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition effectively supports maintenance, reliability, and asset management processes across equipment lifecycle management, preventive maintenance, and work execution. The role works closely with Materials Management (MM) and Finance (FI/CO) to ensure end‑to‑end integration from maintenance planning through material staging, execution, and cost settlement.
The role serves as the SAP process owner and design authority for Plant Maintenance (PM), combining strategic business partnership with hands‑on SAP system configuration. In addition to operational leadership, this position is expected to strategically advance MP Materials’ maintenance capabilities toward an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) operating model, introducing automation, governance, and lifecycle discipline to strengthen asset reliability and cost transparency across the enterprise.
This position requires a strategic thinker capable of balancing operational realities with long‑term enterprise design, comfortable operating as both a hands‑on functional expert and a domain authority. The successful candidate will demonstrate ownership, accountability, and the ability to influence senior operations and reliability leaders while advancing MP Materials’ asset management maturity over time.
Position Responsibilities:
Serve as the enterprise SAP PM domain owner across Fort Worth and Mountain Pass operations, acting as process authority and design governance lead for maintenance and asset management
Lead hands‑on configuration and optimization of SAP Plant Maintenance within S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition, including equipment and functional locations, maintenance plans and strategies, task lists, work orders, refurbishment processes, and preventive/corrective execution
Establish scalable asset hierarchies, master data standards, and configuration governance
Advance preventive maintenance strategies toward predictive and condition‑based methodologies where operationally appropriate
Introduce automation to streamline maintenance planning, material staging, work execution, workflow management, and cost settlement processes
Ensure tight integration between PM and MM, FI/CO, and PP to support spare parts planning, inventory consumption, capitalization, cost control, downtime coordination, and production impact management
Partner with Operations leadership to improve asset performance, reduce downtime, and enhance cost visibility through meaningful KPIs (e.g., MTBF, MTTR, backlog health)
Collaborate with SAP development resources on enhancements, Fiori enablement, reporting improvements, and integration scenarios with external systems
Support capital project teams to strengthen asset commissioning and handoff into operational maintenance
Enforce disciplined change management, documentation standards, testing participation, and continuous system optimization within the PM domain and cost transparency across the enterprise.
Develop and execute a multi‑year roadmap to mature SAP PM capabilities toward a comprehensive EAM framework, including asset lifecycle governance and cross‑site harmonization
Regular travel and engagement with operations teams in Fort Worth and Mountain Pass required
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of SAP Plant Maintenance functional experience
Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA (Cloud, Private Edition, or on‑premise)
Demonstrated experience integrating PM with MM and FI/CO
Experience in asset‑intensive industrial, mining, or manufacturing environments
Strong stakeholder engagement and cross‑functional leadership capabilities
Desired Qualities:
Experience leading maintenance transformation or EAM maturity initiatives
Familiarity with reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) and preventive/predictive maintenance strategies
Exposure to Fiori enablement / mobile application architectures
Experience supporting multi‑site industrial operations
Ability to communicate across IT functional and technical disciplines
Self‑starter with proactive management style
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic industrial environment
Strong business partnership and stakeholder management skills
Detail‑oriented with a disciplined approach to system design and delivery
