Job Description

The Mentoring Program Coordinator for the My Brother’s Keeper Native American Program plays a critical role in building meaningful connections and supporting students in reaching their full potential.
The role involves planning, oversight, and administration of a student mentoring program aimed at improving academic performance and social behavior. The coordinator recruits, interviews, trains student and adult volunteers, and monitors their performance under the general supervision of the School Superintendent or a higher-level administrator.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and implement learning program activities to enhance academic performance and social interactions of program participants.
Evaluate volunteer strengths and participant needs, matching volunteers’ strengths with participant needs.
Conduct learning-related activities such as study classes, reading activities, environmental projects, art and craft sessions, etc.
Schedule and monitor mentoring sessions between volunteers and students.
Meet with an advisory committee to report on activities and progress.
Collaborate with teachers to ensure appropriate intervention services for program participants.
Evaluate programs, conduct needs assessments, and gather feedback from teachers, volunteers, and students.
Plan and conduct training for mentors.
Review grant expenditures, revenues, and purchases to ensure appropriateness.
Compile various records and reports, including student participation and progress reports.
Attend training sessions to enhance and improve program services (if required).
Perform related work as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, social work, counseling, public administration, education, recreation, or a closely related field; or equivalent.
Associate’s degree with 19 credit hours in the listed fields and two years of experience in youth, recreation, youth development, character building, or delinquency prevention.
Or high school diploma or equivalency with four years of experience in the same fields.
