Job Overview
As a OTR WHS Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining Amazon’s road safety programs to ensure safe transportation operations. You will work closely with Delivery Service Providers (DSPs), drivers, and operations teams to proactively identify risks, drive safety initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company safety standards. This role requires a strong ability to analyze data, conduct safety training, and implement process improvements to enhance driver and road safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Monitoring & Risk Management
Conduct regular safety reviews to analyze incidents and identify trends.
Monitor driver safety scores and implement corrective actions.
Assess weather conditions and communicate road hazard alerts.
Field Visits & Driver Engagement
Conduct on‑road safety observations and ride‑along with drivers.
Perform safety audits at delivery stations and assess infrastructure hazards.
Engage directly with drivers and leadership to coach on best practices.
Incident Investigations & Compliance
Lead accident investigations and near‑miss analyses.
Develop and implement corrective action plans.
Ensure compliance with regulatory safety standards and internal Amazon policies.
Training & Capability Building
Conduct safety training sessions for drivers, safety leads, and station teams.
Develop and update training materials.
Track training completion rates.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Program Implementation
Work closely with DSPs, station operations teams, and regional safety managers.
Lead the rollout of new safety initiatives and campaigns.
Participate in cross‑functional meetings to drive a culture of safety.
Data Analytics & Reporting
Maintain and analyze safety performance dashboards.
Generate detailed safety reports with actionable insights.
Identify trends and areas for continuous improvement using data‑driven decision‑making.
Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement
Develop long‑term safety programs.
Allocate resources to prioritize safety initiatives.
Ensure alignment with Amazon’s global road safety standards.
Audits & Compliance Reviews
Conduct compliance checks on DSPs.
Perform policy reviews and documentation audits.
Assess safety program effectiveness through audits and stakeholder feedback.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or 2+ years of industry work experience.
Experience in an environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS with mix of exempt and non‑exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people.
Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
