PURPOSE:
Support the Paint Shop Planning and Shopfloor IT teams in implementing and commissioning automation systems by coordinating PLC/SCADA interfaces, ensuring proper data exchange, and verifying technical documentation. The role focuses on supporting automation integration, clarifying use cases with suppliers and stakeholders, and ensuring reliable system functionality, documentation, and acceptance in compliance with technical and safety requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the joint team Paint shop Planning and Shopfloor IT to drive the necessary topics where automation support is required
Clarify Use cases for paint shop with supplier and clients stakeholders
Material Flow (routing of bodies, insert/out-take procedure, quality stations)
Assist in defining automation system procedures (paint mixing, paint application, etc..)
Clarify and align the data exchange & material flow control in the rework area with usage of automated guided vehicles.
Assist in defining and aligning quality data collected by SCADA from automation equipment
Assist in defining and aligning conveyor line tracking
PLC hardware and software, interface to SCADA
Ensure proper documentation
Review and acceptance of PLC/SCADA interface
Become subject matter expert for paint shop planning dept. for PLC/SCADA interface
Understand functionality of interface (extended telegram interface based on VASS) on PLC/function block level
Check and align interface with SCADA
Verify functionality and acceptance with PLC/SCADA o Train Scout stakeholders in utilizing and maintaining the interface
Supporting PLC/SCADA interface, implementation and commissioning
Collect, check and verify automation documents (Eplans, P&IDs, HMI visualizations, system layouts) delivered by all suppliers
Provide automation support during PLC/SCADA commissioning o Assist in defining data definition sheets for all PLCs according to stakeholder needs (Production, Maintenance, etc..)
Collect, check and verify data definition sheets provided by suppliers
Provide automation support during PLC/SCADA acceptance tests
Communication between different types of control groups
Line tracking – PLC hardware and software, interface to SCADA
Assist the planning and Shopfloor IT Team to integrate results of those topics
Data exchange between different PLCs.
Data exchange between PLCs and SCADA System
Telegram data exchange
OPC UA data exchange
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA in Engineering field
Work Experience in the automotive field
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Programming software Siemens STEP S7 classic, WinCC flex
Programming software Siemens STEP S7 TIA V17, WinCC TIA
VASS6 Project experience - SCADA software Legato Sapient (Germanedge)
HLS / Project Wise (read permission, no editing)
MicroStation (Read Permission, no Editing)
Knowledge of Volkswagen concepts and specifications for the electrical equipment of paint shops and conveyor systems. General expert knowledge in the field of paint shop
Safe handling of E-Plan P8 2024 and E-design
Experience and knowledge of country-specific conditions and regulations (USA)
Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Jira
Knowledge of the associated Volkswagen guidelines (implementation guidelines, occupational health and safety guidelines, etc...)
Knowledge of the associated external guidelines (DIN standards, machinery directive, fire protection, etc...)
Knowledge of the handling or implementation of projects in the field of automation technology. Experience in at least one comparable large-scale project in the automotive industry
Knowledge of Profinet, Ethernet, etc. bus systems
Knowledge of safety and drive technology
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Should be able to communicate in German and English
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
