Key Responsibilities
Quality of Care and Nursing Process:
The nurse provides evidence-based care to prevent the development of a Healthcare Acquired Condition and hospital readmissions.
The nurse practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials.
Assessment: The nurse collects patient health data.
Nursing assessments are completed according to hospital and unit specific policies, procedures, and standards of nursing care.
Collects pertinent data from the patient, significant others, and health care providers.
A comprehensive patient history and physical is completed in a timely manner and includes biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities, educational, age specific, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
Diagnosis / Care Needs: The nurse analyzes the assessment data to identify care needs.
Nursing diagnoses / care needs are derived from the assessment data.
Involving the patient and significant other as appropriate, the nurse formulates a plan to provide appropriate care based on identified patient needs.
Implementation: The patient’s nursing care is based on identified nursing diagnoses / care needs and patient care standards, and is consistent with the therapies of other disciplines.
Nursing care is based on identified nursing diagnoses / care needs.
Nursing care is based on standards of patient care.
Evaluation: The nurse evaluates the patient’s progress towards attainment of desired outcomes.
Evaluation of the patient’s response to nursing care is evident in the ongoing assessment data.

Qualifications
Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate of a Nursing Diploma program.
Certification/Licensure:
Current, valid Arizona RN license or compact state RN license
Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Unit Specific Requirements:
Medical Surgical Units:
Basic EKG competency within 3 months of hire.
Pediatrics:
PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 6 months of hire
Intensive Care Unit/Progressive Care Unit:
ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire
Basic EKG competency within 30 days of hire
Women’s Services:
NRP certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer
ACLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 3 months of hire/transfer
S.T.A.B.L.E. required within 6 months of hire/transfer
AWHONN Fetal Monitor Course: Basic course to be completed within 6 months of hire/transfer; Intermediate course to be completed within 12 months of hire/transfer
Emergency Department:
ACLS and PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 3 months of hire
Emergency Severity Index (ESI) training required within 6 months of hire
TNCC required within 24 months of hire
Hemodialysis:
ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Basic ECG within 3 months of hire
Clinical Decision Unit:
Basic EKG competency within 3 months of hire
ECHO:
ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Basic ECG competency within 30 days of hire.
Surgical Services/Circulator:
ACLS and PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days of hire
Basic EKG competency within 30 days of hire
Minimum five (5) years of experience for incumbent hired into a full-time shift working a weekend, evening, or night shift
Minimum one (1) year of experience in one or more of the following: Endo, Ortho, General, Urology, Robotics, Pulmonary or GYN, if hired into a seasonal position.
Incumbents hired into a full-time shift for weekends or evenings will not have to take call
Surgical Services/PACU/Outpatient:
ACLS and PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days of hire.
Minimum one year of experience in an acute care or med surg setting
Basic EKG competency within 30 days of hire
Minimum five (5) years of experience for incumbent hired into a full-time shift working a weekend, evening, or night shift
Incumbent hired into a full-time shift and scheduled a weekend or evening shift will not have to take call
Cath Lab:
ACLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire
ECG competency upon hire
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse
Cardiology:
Basic EKG competency within 30 days of hire
Clinical Lead:
Maintains BLS/ACLS/PALS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross, TNCC, De-escalation techniques, NRP, Basic EKG, and ESI, as required, per RN position description for assigned area(s).
