As Operations Manager at First Utah Bank you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the Bank, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery across all back‑office operations. Assisting the Director of Operations, this role provides strategic leadership to the operations team, drives continuous process improvement and serves as a key liaison between various departments. This position is primarily performed in a standard office environment. Occasional travel to branch locations required. The role may require extended hours during peak periods such as regulatory examination preparations, system implementations, quarter or year ends.

Directly support, manage, and supervise all exception item processing, wire transfer, ACH origination processing, daily official check reconciliations, vault cash ordering and management.

Directly support, manage, and supervise debit card processing (primarily reconciliation) and customer fraud disputes.

Directly support accounts payable processing.

Directly support check adjustments, including deal direct with other financial institutions.

Maintain and develop, where necessary, operational procedures in alignment with bank policy, regulatory requirements, and Bank objectives.

Closely monitor daily operational workflows to ensure timeliness, accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with internal controls.

Aid the Director of Operations in the identification and resolution of operational bottlenecks, implementing scalable process improvements.

Team Management and Development

Participate in the hiring process for Operations Specialists.

Train operations staff providing coaching and professional development for various skill and experience levels.

Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture that prioritizes customer service, accuracy and accountability.

Conduct regular performance reviews, set measurable goals, and provide support in achieving set goals for all direct reports.

Manage staffing levels and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage across all back‑end functions.

Serve as a trainer for Retail staff; promote cross departmental collaboration between Retail and Operations.

Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure all operations comply with applicable regulations.

Aid the Director of Operations in the oversight of fraud detection and prevention programs, escalating issues as appropriate.

Experience and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. The Bank will consider equivalent experience.

Advanced degree or relevant banking certification preferred (AAP, APRP, NCP)

Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in bank operations with at least two years of supervisory or management experience.

Community bank experience strongly preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of banking regulations, deposit and lending operations, and back‑office functions.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a diverse team.

Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail.

Proficiency with banking software systems.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
