Job Description

As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state’s environmental laws. See details about what we do .

This position is a member of our TCEQ Dallas Fort Worth Regional Office.

Responsibilities

Oversee, coordinate, and manage the check‑out, maintenance, calibration and repairs of equipment, serve as a technical resource or representative on various workgroups for agency equipment and subject matter expert for equipment used in the Region, assist with the annual demonstrations of capability and update training records for those who complete their demonstration of capability.

Plan and perform highly advanced or specialized investigations and reviews regarding facility compliance or permit activities, evaluate data for adherence to specified requirements in applicable laws and regulations and reports from environmental investigators. Act as a technical specialist for the highly complex equipment and sampling techniques.

Serve as a mentor or trainer to other environmental investigators. Help develop training certification and training materials and participate in training processes as necessary.

Advise and provide highly complex technical assistance to the public, the regulated community, and other interested groups.

Key Qualifications

Experience working with air quality issues and using monitoring equipment.

Experience providing technical/program input for the development of policies, procedures, and regulations.

Required Education & Experience

A bachelor's degree in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field plus six years of full‑time experience in environmental activities.

OR a master’s degree plus five years of required experience.

OR a doctorate degree plus four years of required experience.

One year of full‑time experience in the field of environmental activities may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.

Career Ladder
Two years of full‑time experience as a Natural Resources Specialist IV at TCEQ.

Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Dallas Fort Worth Region Office.
