Solid Rocket Motor Integration Engineer
Provide subject‑matter expertise to the SLS Booster Office in the production and delivery of SRM hardware and associated booster elements. Lead subsystems, supply project engineering support, integrate technical solutions, resolve issues, participate in cross‑functional task teams, and ensure alignment between NASA and contractor teams.
Responsibilities
Coordinate between NASA, the Booster Office, and prime contractor teams to achieve SRM subsystem objectives.
Provide SME level insight and oversight into contractor SRM system analyses, integration activities, issues and resolution.
Develop and maintain the technical requirements for the SRM subsystem, coordinating with the Booster Element Office and contractor requirements development teams.
Coordinate and communicate with other Marshall Space Flight Center and Kennedy Space Center organizations as needed.
Coordinate planning and execution of requirement verification activities leading to flight‑certified SRM hardware.
Support the development and delivery of Booster Office Certificate of Flight Readiness products for SRM elements.
Qualifications
Degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required. Degree from an ABET‑accredited university is preferred. Educational requirements are typically the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum of 14 years of experience, a Master’s degree with at least 18 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 25 years of experience.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience in design, development, testing, or evaluation of solid rocket motor systems, booster structures, or related propulsion hardware.
Ability to effectively communicate significant programmatic and technical issues and potential resolution options to appropriate Booster office personnel.
Familiarity with the current SLS Program and working understanding of SLS Booster and SRM interfaces.
Experience with vehicle and ground operations related to booster integration or propulsion systems.
Experience developing and delivering executive‑level briefings; strong negotiation and technical problem‑solving skills; ability to decompose complex issues.
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Self‑motivated and effective team player; comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

Office environment. Requires clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication.
Physical Requirements
Sitting for extended periods of time in meetings and at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks; use of stairs or elevators for access between floors and buildings.
Equipment and Machines
Operate a personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment.
Attendance
Normal workday 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Friday. Minimal overtime may be required.
Other Essential Functions
Work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and exercise good judgment. Grooming and dress must be appropriate and not impose a safety risk.
Proof of U.S. citizenship is required.
