
Product Engineering Intern

About the Role
As a Product Engineering Intern, you will support the engineering and manufacturing teams in developing and improving power distribution products. This role offers hands‑on experience working with panelboards, switchboards, and switchgear, while learning design‑for‑manufacturing principles.
You will assist in bridging the gap between design and production, gaining exposure to electrical and manufacturing processes in a real‑world setting.
Key Responsibilities
Assist engineers in supporting communication between manufacturing and design teams
Help troubleshoot basic production and design issues under supervision
Review and update drawings and bills of materials (BOMs)
Support the use of 3D CAD software to review product designs
Assist in ensuring designs meet applicable standards and specifications (e.g., UL requirements)
Collaborate with engineering teams on new product development initiatives
Support manufacturing, testing, and quality teams with day‑to‑day engineering tasks
Help interpret technical drawings, including electrical one‑line diagrams and layouts
Provide general technical support to internal teams as needed
Participate in continuous improvement and process optimization efforts
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles
Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus
Ability to read or willingness to learn electrical schematics and technical drawings
Strong problem‑solving skills and eagerness to learn
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Interest in manufacturing and product development
Preferred Qualifications
Prior internship, project, or lab experience in engineering or manufacturing
Exposure to power distribution equipment or electrical systems
Basic knowledge or coursework related to UL standards, including UL 891, UL 1008A, and UL 1558, as well as NEC
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to twenty‑five pounds at times.
Work Environment
May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
