Gastroenterologist – Wilkes-Barre, PA VAMC

Position Overview
The Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time board-certified or board-eligible Gastroenterologist. The physician will diagnose, treat, and manage patients with gastrointestinal disorders, including liver disease, hepatitis C, and potential liver transplantation, in outpatient, inpatient, and community living center settings. Surgical procedures within gastroenterology, patient education, and interdisciplinary care participation are also integral responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with gastrointestinal disorders, including liver disease and hepatitis C.
Provide comprehensive care in outpatient, inpatient, and community living center settings.
Perform surgical procedures within gastroenterology as required.
Educate patients and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
Key Requirements
U.S. citizenship (non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy).
Full unrestricted licensure, certification, or registration in any U.S. state.
Board certified or board eligible in gastroenterology.
Office Hours
8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday; on‑call as needed.
