Hutchens Law Firm has an immediate opening for an experienced, full-time litigation paralegal in our Columbia, SC location. This position will support a well-established attorney with duties, including, but not limited to: case management, legal transcription/dictation, assisting with discovery, downloading filings, correspondence, entering time, obtaining fee approval, and other duties as assigned in other departments as requested or needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
Ability to assist and keep up with a fast-paced attorney
Excellent computer proficiency, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with ability to learn new programs and/or platforms
Must know how to e-file in State and Federal Courts
Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex legal and business documents
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
Ability to identify problems, establish facts, and conduct legal research
Strong attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred:
Paralegal certificate
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files (up to 15 lbs), open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
